to a place for family.

  • Family Centric

    My Image

For Saad, creating a facility that is family centric comes naturally. We believe at end of life, faith and family become the things is life with real value.

  • Connected to Nature

    My Image

The site layout allows for interaction with nature. It includes a nature trail, bedroom porches, and outdoor dining.

  • Like Home

Because the project’s objective is the provision of full healthcare services in an environment that is intentionally “un-institutional,” its design is as approachable and familiar as possible.

What is a Hospice Inpatient Facility?

Hospice is considered the model for quality compassionate care for people facing a life-limiting illness by providing expert medical care, pain management, and emotional and spiritual support expressly tailored to each patient’s needs and wishes. Support is provided to the patient’s loved ones as well. Hospice focuses on caring, not curing. Hospice care is provided in the patient’s home and in hospice inpatient facilities. The types of care provided in facilities is detailed below.

Symptom Management

Management for patients whose symptoms, such as pain, cannot be effectively managed at home.

Active Dying Care

A freestanding inpatient hospice facility provides all the benefits of home with the support system in the most trying of times.

Respite Care

Families need a short break and want the comfort of a facility that can offer the right environment for their loved one.

Short-Term Care

Care for patients while their families receive education on specific ways to best care for the patient's particular condition at home.

Facility Location

Centrally Located

The facility location within the region locates it off one of the top 5 major roads in the City of Mobile and well inside the city limits, an exceedingly centralized location. Moreover, Saad will get all the benefit of being inside the city while also enjoying a tucked away feel. A retreat or oasis within the city environment allowing for proximity to the major populations of the area. It provides close proximity to I-10 & I-65 as well the Regional Airport. Such proximity will allow family members to visit more easily.

Saad Hospice was established in 1985, as an Alabama based freestanding home hospice provider dedicated to providing caring, individualized care for patients and their families as they face serious injuries or terminal illnesses. Saad is one of only a few experienced and sufficiently sized operators capable of bringing a proven, industry leading, cost efficient operation into a new inpatient setting.

About Facility.

Saad Hospice worked in conjunction with Studio Sidewalk to design the facility. The design team sought to redefine expectations of inpatient facility design. The team wanted a space that felt like a home but also had its own unique presence that created an atmosphere where compassion, love, and community could flow freely.
